Throughout the year, EssilorLuxottica works closely with governments, NGO partners and businesses, raising awareness on the global health issue that poor vision represents and implementing our proven models to create greater access to vision care. World Sight Day, on 14th October, is a moment in the year to celebrate the milestones that both our brand, as well as the wider eye health sector, have achieved.
A particularly significant milestone this year has been the United Nations’ resolution to make eyecare accessible for all by 2030. The resolution sets a deadline for countries to ensure local populations have full access to eyecare services and, for the first time, calls for new targets on eyecare to be included in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The resolution aligns with our own roadmap on what it will take to make vision care accessible for all.
Continuing our mission to help everyone in the world “see more, be more and live life to its fullest”, EssilorLuxottica is putting the next generation’s vision first this World Sight Day. The public can learn more about poor vision in children, the need for regular eye exams and good eye health habits on www.putvisionfirst.com, where they can also take action through an accessible online vision-screening test.
