In 2018, Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF) India launched ‘Namma Kannu Namma Doddaballapura‘, a project to make Doddaballapur Taluk the first region in India free of poor vision.
Namma Kannu Namma Doddaballapura was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of Karnataka, Prerana Trust, a non-for-profit organization and Drishti Eye Hospital, a social impact organization. It is meant to create access to free vision care for all 325,000 residents of 290 villages and 33 urban wards in the Doddaballapur Taluk region within 21-24 months.
Conducting door-to-door visits to every household, we have reached over 143,000 residents, screened over 75,000 and provided free glasses to over 25,000.
