CLICKCHECK

Winner of three IDEAS at the 2020 International Design Excellence Awards

VISION SCREENING MADE POSSIBLE, ANYWHERE

One of the key barriers to bringing vision care to the developing world is the lack of affordable testing tools – the ClickCheck™ is an invaluable innovation that enables vision screening to be conducted anytime, anywhere.

A CRISIS AFFECTING
1 IN 3 PEOPLE IN THE WORLD

There is a very real vision health crisis happening in the world today with 2.7 billion suffering from uncorrected poor vision, 90% of whom live at developing or rural areas at the economic base of the pyramid (BoP).

One of the key barriers to bringing vision care to the BoP is the lack of affordable testing tools – an autorefractor which tests for refractive errors can cost anything from $2,000 to $20,000.

Revolutionizing Vision Screening

REVOLUTIONIZING VISION SCREENING FOR THE DEVELOPING WORLD

Priced at a fraction of an autorefractor, the ClickCheck™ is portable, easy-to-use and does not require electricity to operate, making it ideal for vision screening in all settings, from semi-urban areas to rural villages to the most remote of communities.

DESIGN WITH AN IMPACT

Winner of our See Change innovation challenge in 2016, the ClickCheck™ is conceptualized by TEAMS Design, an award winning design consultancy in response to the competition and was first known as QuickCheck.

After refinement and field testing by the teams from Essilor’s Base of Pyramid (BoP) Innovation Lab, 2.5 New Vision Generation and Center of Innovation and Technology, the ClickCheck™ is now available.

Recognized for its impact in bringing vision care to underserved communities, the ClickCheck™ received three wins – gold in the Medical & Healthcare category, silver in the Social Impact category and a special Jury’s Chair award – at the 2020 International Design Excellence Awards, one of the most prestigious global design awards programs.

AN EXCELLENT STARTING POINT FOR SUBJECTIVE REFRACTION

The ClickCheck™ Clinical Study

An independent clinical study conducted by Lions Aravind Institute of Community Ophthalmology (LAICO) in India found that the ClickCheck™ demonstrates high reliability and accuracy in detecting spherical power, resulting in accurate prescriptions and is hence an excellent starting point for subjective refraction.

Key Findings

Spherical Power Measurement

The ClickCheck™ is highly accurate in measuring spherical power.

Visual Acuity

The visual acuity using the corrections from the ClickCheck™ had moderate level of agreement with that from subjective refraction.

Astigmatism

The ClickCheck™ estimates astigmatism with moderate accuracy when compared to subjective refraction and the autorefractor.

Spherical Power and Visual Acuity across all Age Groups

The ClickCheck™ offers highly accurate measurement of spherical power and visual acuity across all age groups, compared to subjective refraction.

Suitable as primary test instrument

“If I were screening a large population for refractive errors, I would use the ClickCheck™ as my primary test instrument because it is fast, easy-to-use and in most cases repeatable, attesting to its consistency.”

Enables more people to be screened

“Major strides have been made in creating programs to address uncorrected refractive errors. However achieving scale and addressing the demand are still elusive due to the lack of human resources. In underserved environments where an autorefractor is unavailable or unaffordable, the ClickCheck allows the limited number of clinicians to serve more patients by providing an affordable, reliable starting point for the refraction process and reducing screening time per patient.”
