How Camila Rodrigues, the basketball player, sees the world - Essilor See Change

With the 2016 Olympics Games now behind us, we celebrate the role good vision plays in sport with this moving final episode of our web series. Meet Camila, an ambitious basketball player and a student at the Félix Mieli Venerando Olympic Experimental Gymnasium in Caju, Rio. Camila received her first pair of spectacles and met her idol, Hortencia Marcari, one of the world’s greatest female basketball players of all times.

“How do you see the world?” is a partnership that was launched last year between Instituto Ver e Viver, Essilor’s social business arm in Brazil, and the Nissan Foundation. This vision health program screened over 1,000 students and teachers in public sports schools called GEOs Ginásios Experimentais Olímpicos (Olympic Experimental Gymnasiums). Close to 400 ophthalmologic consultations took place and 318 free glasses were delivered to students in need.
