Celebrating vision and smiles at Special Olympics World Games 2015 - Essilor See Change

Essilor and the Essilor Vision Foundation provided smiles in more ways than one at the Special Olympics World Games 2015, where senior officials from both organisations payed tribute to winning athletes and to the many volunteers around the world who have contributed to improving the sight and lives of over 150,000 athletes.

To celebrate its 13-year long partnership with Special Olympics and the close of the Special Olympics World Games 2015, Essilor hosted a reception at the Marshall B Ketchum University in L.A.  Tim Shriver, Chairman of Special Olympics, thanked Essilor for the support of both the Foundation and Essilor laboratories around the world and offered a special plaque in recognition of Essilor volunteers and the eyewear donations that have helped over 150,000 athletes to see well for the first time.

Essilor Labs of America and Essilor Vision Foundation contributed to providing vision care services to over 3,000 athletes during the Special Olympics World Games 2015. Athletes were able to get their eyes checked and to choose from a selection of prescription glasses, sports goggles and sunglasses at the Special Olympics–Lions club International Opening Eyes tent. Essilor volunteers manned a temporary laboratory providing on-campus edging services that helped to ensure that many athletes received their prescription eyewear within 24 hours.
