Shanwei

Wang Huizhen is 76 years old. She lives in Zhonghe village in rural Haifeng, which is 30 kilometers from the closest ophthalmologist. Last December, she was invited to a screening camp in the local market, where she received an eye examination and bought her first pair of glasses.

“I find it hard to read the labels on my medicine without the help of others”

“I need to take my medication on a regular basis, but as I am longsighted, I find it hard to read the labels on my medicine without the help of others. Now that I have my glasses, I can see clearly and take my medicine alone. This is the best new year’s gift.”

Working with Shanwei Project Vision Hospital, 2.5 NVG China has provided reading glasses to improve the lives of 653 people in and around Shanwei (Guangdong province) since last November. The team aims to empower 100 Vision Ambassadors in 2015 through this program and reach out to 20,000 new wearers in this region.
